What Makes a Sustainable building
By Craig White (White Design).
See Poster for more info & RSVP
Limited Availability.

We are used to hearing about the need for sustainable buildings; all new buildings must be “Zero Carbon” by 2019. However, we also hear about “Low Energy” buildings, “Low Carbon” buildings, and some people may even have heard about “Passivhaus”. In this talk, Craig White will explain the distinctions between these labels and guide us through the process of designing a sustainable building from scratch. He will also touch on the contested issue of how “sustainability” should be assessed. Craig’s talk will be illustrated with images of his projects throughout the country.

The Stephen Lawrence Lecture - The White House.

William Tunnell (WT Architecture) talked about his Stephen Lawrence Shortlisted Project 'The White House' amongst other works the practice are currently involved with and the development of his career to date.

The event at Bath University on the 29th May 2012 was run alongside Bath University's end of year exhibition and hopefully marks the start of the Stephen Lawrence Annual Lecture hosted by the Bristol & Bath RIBA.

The event raised £130 towards the Stephen Lawrence Trust and we thank all those who attended for their contributions.

The White House - Isle of Coll
By William Tunnell (WT Architecture).
See Poster for more info & RSVP

Completed in 2010 this beautifully sensitive scheme was constructed around the ruins of ‘The White House’ Isle of Coll, Argyll, where Boswell and Johnston visited during their tour of the Hebrides in 1773. Whilst the ruin has been consolidated and parts are incorporated within the new building, the separation between historic and contemporary is overt with the house sitting comfortably within this extraordinarily beautiful landscape.

Bristol Old Vic OnSite Tour - CANCELLED

Unfortunately Galliford Try have informed us that they have had to cancel Thursdays tour of Bristol Old Vic due to unforeseen circumstances.

I can only apologise that this has come so late in the day and for any inconvenience caused.

Hopefully we can re arrange the visit in the near future and will certainly contact you nearer the time to see if you are still interested in attending.
